RESIGNATION LETTER TO ANY PPO PLAN

Be very careful that you do NOT send your letter of resignation to any PPO insurance plan until you have spoken directly with your patients in that plan, DO NOT SEND THEM A LETTER. You may ask yourself why not, did you know that when a person receives a letter, it is common knowledge that they only read the first several sentences at the beginning before discarding it? Were you aware that most people when they read that something is changing, most times they go to a negative thought and begin to get angry without really looking into the change? How do you react?

This change can be a very POSITIVE one if done in a timely manner and face to face with our patients.

Here is an example letter to send ONLY to the insurance plan that you wish to resign from after speaking with patients. Most plans need at least a 60 days notice. Did you know that in that time period they will send out a letter to each subscriber, stating a not-so-nice sentence that we the providers “will not be honoring the UCR or Allowed amount” with this new change in status?

LETTER OF RESIGNATION

RE: Agreement Termination

Dear Sir or Madam:
Please accept this letter as written notice of Termination of the Participating Dentist Agreement, per section 13 of the Agreement. (Look at your agreement for your correct section)

This resignation is being tendered due to the "Usual, Customary and Reasonable" fees that have been used by several Delta Dental plans are no longer competitive with those of the other insurance companies in our area. These fee demands have not kept up with increasing costs and will no longer allow me to continue to provide treatment at the Standard of Care of my practice. As the alternatives to resignation are either lowering the level of care provided for the patients that you represent, which I find patently unethical, or forcing my other patients to unfairly subsidize the treatment of Delta Dental patients through higher fees, I find it necessary to reevaluate my participation with these plans.

As participation in Delta Dental plans are an "all or none" proposition, without the ability to selectively participate, I am forced to choose between participation in any Delta Dental programs or maintaining my ethical obligations to all of my patients.

If your company has an alternate solution that will resolve the above listed concerns, I would be happy to speak with one of your representatives. Otherwise, please consider this letter the termination of the agreement.

Yours in Good Oral Health,

(Provider’s Name)
